Could you please help? I have bounced the interface but no luck.

c1861-advipservicesk9-mz.151-4.M5.bin is the version of the Code.

I need to connect a Meraki access point to this router.

Yes,  it is working now. I connected Meraki to all ports of the router hoping at least one would and I got lucky.

Hello,

>> I need to connect a Meraki access point to this router.

For this you will likely need to buy the power injector for the Meraki AP because it may require a POE+ device that is more then 15 W per port.

I cannot find specific info about your model C1861E.

For the cisco IP phone, do you have a power injector or you trying to use POE on the router port ?

For the non working ports try to use different LAN cables that you know they work for sure and repeat your tests.

If you have unused ports you can try to use them.

For the IP phone verify it is powered on either by POE or by an external power supply or by  a power injector.

Edit:

I have found only the following web page the datasheet links provide a link for the C1841 not for the C1861E.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/routers/1861e-integrated-services-router-isr/model.html?dtid=osscdc000283

From the router picture we can understand it has an on board etherswitch module with 8 ports. But I am not able to find info about POE capabilities (if any).

Edit2:

this router is not mentioned / listed also on the migration document to newer ISR routers like from 1841 to C1941.

I think this router model has been designed for service providers to be the cheapest CPE with SRST for IP telephony. The eight LAN ports are there to avoid to install a separate LAN switch on small branch offices.

The C1841 has no VOIP features according the quick start guide:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/1800/1841/hardware/quick/guide/1800qsg.html

The C1861E should qualify as a 1800 series modular router but when looking for links about modular 1800 routers only documents for the C1841 are provided.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

I am not familiar with this 1861E, I expected some type of IOS router but the configuration shown seems to be more like a switch. Perhaps the output of show interface status might shed some light on this?

Hello Sharath,

yes your router supports POE and should be fine for current POE devices like IP Phones.

However, the new Meraki AP may require more then 15 W in a single port and in that case your device may be not able to provide it if it supports the first generation standard of POE.

This is the only point of attention.

Have you been able to change the LAN cables on the not working ports ? or to try to use different ports ?

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Yes,  it is working now. I connected Meraki to all ports of the router hoping at least one would and I got lucky.
