Hi All
I want to understand whats this ip igmp snooping optimise-multicast-flood command does , as in the explanation it says if you disable the command it will flood the unknown multicast traffic . My doubt is if we disable igmp snooping also all unknown multicast will be flooded so whats the difference in between this . my understanding is both snooping and this command does the same by avoiding the unknow multicast traffic not to flood . Please let me know

Hi,
This is important if you are running IPv6 in your network.
Since OMF is enabled by default on Nexus. Running IPv6 will not work due to IPv6 neighbor discovery which runs over multicast. So by disabling OMF, you get your ipv6 working on layer-2 interface.

It's interesting to me too. In many documents is written what happens when you disable the OMF, but I didn't find anywhere how this feature is working when it is enabled. It's interesting because it may be related to some multicast optimizations for example when you have Checkpoint cluster connected to your Nexus 7000.
