Regarding loops

                   Hi,

As a part of troubleshooting we can check the loop for serial interface for WAN connectivity, which was provided by ISP for line testing,

why we can't check loop for ether ports when we terminate a WAN connectivity to these ether ports.

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Naveen

With a serial connection there are components of the circuit such as the CSU/DSU or the Dmarc or SmartJack etc which make the loopback function possible. These components do not exist in an Ethernet connection. So the loopback test is not possible with an Ethernet connection.

Other words for what's Rick has posted, Ethernet it a different physical technology from "traditional" serial WAN technologies.

Perhaps the Ethernet test that might be considered most like a loopback test is TDR.  If you're unfamiliar with TDR, you might start with Leo's document, https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-18983#comment-9396.
