Replacement for ASA-5510

Hi everyone,

I wonder if someone would be able to recommend a replacement for the ASA? We’re going to have a 200mbps leased line fitted then later in the year regrade it to a 400mbps due to a lot more staff moving into the office.

Currently I use an ASA-5510 but the maximum throughput of that is 300mbps.

I was wondering, which model firewall would you recommend for a 400mbps connection? Cisco ideally as I have site-site VPN’s setup and they’re all ASA’s so I don’t want any incompatibilities between vendors if possible.

Thanks for any replies.

The recommendation will depend on throughput as well as other factors. The stated throughput for a particular model is unencrypted traffic with no services. If you add encryption, IPS, etc. performance will change.

Take a look at the 5516, 5525 and 5545. These would meet your current bandwidth needs. However, I would recommend thinking about your plans for the future as well as the services that you will be using.

You can compare the throughput, features, etc. of the models side by side here:
