reserving bandwidth on a MPLS link

Hi,

my client is asking to reserve BW on a MPLS link for a connection between two hosts.
The MPLS router do have usual COS setting with RT-Vo, RT-Vi, D1, D2 and D3 with assigned BW / % of remaining BW (usual config I would say).

Does someone has an idea how to reserve (not limit) BW for a specific host?

For instance, let’s say I have a total BW in a service equal to 40Mbps, and I need to reserve 5Mbps on it so all the time communications that have source/destination IP 10.10.10.10/32 and 172.16.0.10/32, always goes through the reserved 5Mbps BW. As mentioned the other 35Mbps will handle the remain traffic applying on it the CoS categories that are already configured in the routers.

The only idea I have is to split the bandwidth into two different VRFs, 35M to the primary and 5M to the secondary .. but if nobody is using the 5M, the BW is not available for the other VRF.

any idea is welcome

Uwe

Could you mark the traffic (DSCP), and then create a QoS policy, and do it within the same VRF?

Have you got a CE router to make applying this easy?
