rommon-mode issue

i tried to copy IOS image in Rommon mode in 2620xm router the next message appeared :

Invoke this command for disaster recovery only.

WARNING: all existing data in all partitions on flash will be lost!

Do you wish to continue? y/n: [n]: yes

PHY did not complete auto-negotation, status = 0x100

......

ARP: address resolution for 192.168.0.111 timed out.

ARP failed with failure code 1. TFTP transfer aborted.

TFTP: Operation terminated prematurely.

A couple of questions for you. Where you connected directy to the router with a crossover cable, or where you going through a switch?

1. did you give the ethernet interface and ip address?

2. specify subnet mask?

3. specify a gateway? You would think that this one would not matter. But I have had rom uploads fail because of it.

4. the PHY did not complete auto-negotation appears to referr to ether an ip address from dhcp, or more likly the connection speed and duplex. If connecting through a switch, try a crossover cable instead. or hard code the ethernet port if you can in rom mode.
