Are you getting any error on the console or it just boots with  c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-9.T1

Try chaning the boot statement as below

boot system flash flash:c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-24.T7.bin

Thanks

Raju

Hello all,

I have just update the ios to c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-24.T7.bin then the router can't boot, I already download an other one but the problem still occurred, is everyone can help me? see the error below.

Smart Init is enabled
smart init is sizing iomem
  ID            MEMORY_REQ         TYPE
                0X003AA110 public buffer pools

                0X00020000 Crypto module pools
                0X000021B8 Onboard USB

If any of the above Memory Requirements are
"UNKNOWN", you may be using an unsupported
configuration or there is a software problem and
system operation may be compromised.

Thanks,

You say see the error below but what you posted does not have any error.

As we said in the original thread the best thing to do is to connect to the console of the router, attempt to boot, and to post ALL of the console output during the attempt to boot.

As was suggested in the original thread one possible cause of problems like this is not having enough memory. Can you verify the amount of memory available in your router and the amount of memory required for this version of IOS?

Hi,

I think that there is no AIM cards in the router then the router can't boot with advencedsec ios. see below the boot process.

Thanks,

Rj

Thanks for the additional information. The output is helpful, especially this line

0X0588          0X00000000 UNKNOWN Card in slot 1

So what card is in slot 1? Is it possible to remove that card and try booting again?

Also I notice that in your first post you tell us that you are upgrading to release c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-24.T7.bin but the booting output that you post is loading (C1841-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(10) which I assume is the original code. Can you verify that there is a boot system command in the configuration which points to the new image?

Card WIC in the slot 1, I have just removed the card and tried with C1841-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M and advsecurityk9 IOS  the problem still occurred.

Thanks.

Rj

Thanks for trying my suggestion about removing the card. If the problem still occurs then please boot again and post all of the console output during the attempt to boot.

Hi expert,

I have a couple of 1841, see below the console output

1st

Cisco 1841 (revision 7.0) with 116736K/14336K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID FCZ..
2 FastEthernet interfaces
1 Serial(sync/async) interface
DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity disabled.
191K bytes of NVRAM.

.... and then at this one:

Cisco 1841 (revision 6.0) with 118784K/12288K bytes of memory.
Processor board ID FC..
2 FastEthernet interfaces
2 Low-speed serial(sync/async) interfaces
1 Virtual Private Network (VPN) Module
DRAM configuration is 64 bits wide with parity disabled.
191K bytes of NVRAM.

I found that the AIM slot is empty in both router.
how to enable the vpn module?
the first one can't boot with advsecurityk9 ios (ipbase only)

Thanks,

Rj

Your router is doing a SILENT crash.

Try to load different IOS version.

the first one can't boot with advsecurityk9 ios (ipbase only)

If the crypto feature set is NOT loaded, then the VPN card cannot be enabled.

Connect to the console port and reboot the router.

Post the entire bootup process.  The file you want to run could be corrupt, hence the router is booting the second IOS.
