Router with drops

There is a lease line with two 2801 routers. it has 4 slots ,if wic-2t card is connected to one slot, ping rate is good, if it is connected to some other port, full of drops, if the same wic-2t card is connected to some other router,it is working fine.

so

1.wic-2t card is not a problem since it is working fine in two slots.

2.IOS is also not a problem.

3.Only suspected is router.

But router is new , which has come from cisco yesterday.

What other possibility to check out ...

Babu

Why do you state that "the IOS is not a problem"?

Without version info it is not possible to check for any bugs. Do you think that new routers cannot have a buggy IOS?

For the rest it is an interesting issue. According to the docs, the WIC-2T should work in any slot on a 2801. Which one(s) were actually working?

The only other option that I can think of is grounding although that does not explain why it worked in one (or two?) slots and not in the other one's.

leo,

see only one wic2t card is available and i have connected and checked with all the slots.....

so two slots are working well....

two other slots are not working ...i.e., with drops.

so if two are working fine, how do u suspect the IOS image problem..?

Not all slots have the same functionality. Two of them are HWIC slots. What I would like to know (if I were you) is wheter the two slots that the module works with are the HWIC-slots, the other two or any other combination.

Case 1 and 2 could indicate IOS issues, the latter one would rather point to a hardware issue.

Leo

You are the second one to report problems with WIC-xT and the 2801. This is probably no coincidence. Although I do not give the advice often, I would consider opening a TAC-case for this one.

thanks for ur info..

i am going for a replacement, hope i will recieve the new router today....let me check it and update u.

Hie,

Can you try the following

On the serial interface, give te command invert txcloack

config#int s 1/0

config-if#invert txcloack

I faced a similar issue with WIC-xTs and 1800 and 2800 routes. At both teh places this resolved te issue

Please let me know f this works

The problem is solved with "invert txclock"....

really i am very much thankfull to you.....

one other thing is 2801 is automatically generating clocking.

The interface automatically takes 2000000 clock.

Up to 1.9 Mbps it works fine. but if bandwidth exceeds 1.9, if it goes 2 Mb, it results in full of packet drops.

now with this "invert txclock" command, ping rate is ultimate. so its a very good command, some 4 links has come up due to this problem.
