Hi All ,

We have configured IP rtp compression on E1 link but the packets are not getting compressed. If anyone has any clue , kindly advise.

Although IP header compression is ON although RTP packets are coming on interface still we are not receiving any detection of RTP header com

TAS01-ASR903#sh ip rtp header-compression
RTP/UDP/IP header compression statistics:
Interface Serial0/2/5.1 (compression on, IPHC)
Distributed fast switched:
66 seconds since line card sent last stats update
Rcvd: 0 total, 0 compressed, 0 errors, 0 status msgs
0 dropped, 0 buffer copies, 0 buffer failures
Sent: 0 total, 0 compressed, 0 status msgs, 0 not predicted
0 bytes saved, 0 bytes sent
Connect: 16 rx slots, 16 tx slots,

Hello @shaileshtata1

Both ends must be configured to support and negotiate RTP header compression. Is it Ok ?

Best regards

This comes up only when

Interface Serial0/2/5.1 (compression on, IPHC).

What are the commands required for this . I have just used ip rtp header-compression iphc-format in the interface

negotiation is complete.

 @shaileshtata1

do

Router# debug ip rtp header-compression

and share output please.

Best regards

Are you use frame relay since I see interface p2mp?

Did you config rtp in both end ?

MHM

It is Serial E1 interface with PPP encapsulation

Yes RTP is configured at both the ends.

Interface Serial0/2/5.1 <<- why you use this

This is how e1 serial interfaces are configured in ASR903.

PFB the detailed setup and configuration:
