Serial Clock Rate

I have a point to point full T1 using two 1751 routers with WIC-1DSU-T1-V2. One of the routers is set clock source line and the other is clock source internal. I am not clear on when you have to set an interface to DCE and when you have to set the clock rate on an interface.

Well when it comes to T1's, there isn't really a DCE/DTE type interface, that is for serial links such as EIA530 and RS-449. For your setup, you are connected to a CO which provides your connection from site to site, the provider will provide clocking throughout the network and you should have both sides set as line. You rarely want to use internal clock on the router because it is only stratum 3 at best. So set both T1's as line (default) and check to make sure you don't have any errors coming in.

The provider has told me that they are not providing any type of clocking since this is a point to point connetion.
