A Cisco Partner has asked me
'We have a growing customer that we have previously used 2x stacked Catalyst 2960S to give us 8 SFP ports for Fibre + switching
All their new installs require a minimum of 10 SFP ports for the amount of fibre being deployed. Ethernet requirement is reasonably minimal.
We envisioned replacing the the 2x 2960's with a pair ME3400's, but they are not stackable.
What I'm looking for is a stackable rack mount switch (preferably 1RU) that I can configure with at least 5x SFP Ports, 8x Gig Ethernet Ports that will just gave me basic switching and spanning tree. Is there anything in the current product line up that you can suggest?'

Hi,
If you want the increased fibre port density then one possible solution is to install a pair of 4500X switches.
They are not stackable but you can run them as a VSS pair.
