how to get information for traffic type and size on network for a specific segment.
Need to understnad what traffic passes from Backbone to Firewall

You can enable netflow and use an external collector like mrtg or the simple how comamnds embedded in IOS.

Will Netflow work on Cisco 6506 running IOS (tm) MSFC3 Software (C6MSFC3-PSV-M), Version 12.2(14)SX2.
Cisco 6506 is in hybrid mode.

Cacti is a nice little utility that will graph that for you. All you need is a workstations or server to run it on and it is free.
