Hello Community,

i have got a SGE2000 switch and all i want to do is increase speed by trunking 2 ports. I understand it is done with VLAN.

Is that right and is there a How-To to download?

Txs for replies.

Hi,

a trunk link in Cisco is a tagged port = a port which transports multiple VLANs.

If you want to increase speed you must do an etherchannel which is a logical bundling of physical ports.

But if your trafic flow is mainly between 1 src and 1 dst then you will not do load-balancing because the traffic in the bundle will always use the same physical port due to the load-balancing algorithm.

Regards.

Alain.
