Hi,
I have a Cisco 4503 with the Fiber SFP port and say at a 500 meter distance I have a Cisco 3560G switch,I have multimode fiber between these switches,
now Can configure the port as a trunk port.
My guses is for trunking ,it is a layer 802.1q,there is no need to worry about the physical layer. Please clarify my doubts.
Thanks and Regards,
S.Venkataraman.

Hi Venkat,
You probably have an 1000Base-SX SFP module. It is OK for 550m distance.
Yes, you can configure it as a trunk port, similarly to this:
interface gig0/1
switchport
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport mode trunk

On L3 you canot configure a switch port as trunk without enableing dot1q on it.
