Guys, need your help understanding
1. I noticed 2 same IOS image files in the bootflash: for a 6509E sup2t, below is the output!
XXXXX>sh bootdisk:
-#- --length-- -----date/time------ path
1 33554432 Jan 12 2000 xx:xx:xx -05:00 sea_console.dat
2 120283112 Feb 12 2000 aa:bb:cc -05:00 s2t54-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.151-2.SY7.bin
3 2850876 Jan 12 2000 xx:xx:xx -05:00 pyramid_rm2.srec.122-50r.SYS4
4 91109280 Mar 12 2000 xx:xx:xx -05:00 s2t54-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.150-1.SY3.bin
5 33554432 Jan 12 2000 xx:xx:xx -05:00 sea_log.dat
6 120283112 Feb 12 2000 aa:bb:cc -05:00 s2t54-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.151-2.SY7.bin
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no change in the IOS image name and also, when I check the dir bootdisk: #6 doesnt showup!
XXXXX>dir bootdisk:
Directory of bootdisk:/
1 -rw- 33554432 Jan 12 2000 xx:xx:xx -05:00 sea_console.dat
2 -rw- 120283112 Feb 12 2000 aa:bb:cc -05:00 s2t54-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.151-2.SY7.bin
3 -rw- 2850876 Jan 12 2000 xx:xx:xx -05:00 pyramid_rm2.srec.122-50r.SYS4
4 -rw- 91109280 Mar 12 2000 xx:xx:xx -05:00 s2t54-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.150-1.SY3.bin
5 -rw- 33554432 Jan 12 2000 xx:xx:xx -05:00 sea_log.dat
1024557056 bytes total (743161856 bytes free)

that helps, but i am unable to understand if there can be 2 files with same name
The file comes up twice if the command "sh bootdisk:" is issued but the correct output is displayed with the command "dir bootdisk:". I suspect this is a bug.
if I use the below command, which file will get deleted??
The command will delete SY7 file.

Before you start make sure you check the MD5 hash value of the file against the MD5 hash value of the file found in the Cisco website.
If they are a match, then the next step is to change the boot variable string with the new one on top and the old IOS file immediately below it. Save the config and then reboot.
