Unable to get internet on my VLANS

GAR Systems
Level 1
Level 1

Part 1:

Router/Gateway: tplink - TL-WR840N

Switch 1: SG350X-24P

Switch 2: SG350XG-24F

Connected: Router ->Switch1->Switch2

I have created a new Vlan Subnet 192.168.10.0/24 with static addresses for:

Router IP: 192.168.10.254

Switch 1 IP: 192.168.10.253

Switch 2 IP: 192.168.10.252

I have created a static route on the switches 0.0.0.0 pointing to 192.168.10.254.

I am unable to get internet, I can’t even ping the gateway from the switch.

Do I need a static route on the TP link? If yes what would it look like? Can this router even do this?

Part 2:

Created a new Vlan subnet 192.168.20.0/24 with static addresses for:

Switch 1 IP: 192.168.20.253

Switch 2 IP: 192.168.20.252

Then a DHCP server (on switch 2) for clients.

What settings and routes do I need to get internet to this Vlan?

Hi @GAR Systems ,

Your border router must have a default route configured, pointing the internet exit interface.

In addition, you must have NAT configured to translate your private networks to a public IP.

In the NAT configuration, your private networks must be allowed to be translated.

If you have more layer 3 equipment, these must also have default routes pointing to your border router.

Saludos

Hi Luis,

Thanks for the reply.

In this situation im double NAT'ing. I have an internet connected network plugged into my WAN port on my TP link. So in this scenario my TP-link should be doing the NAT?

So on my TP-link i need to have a static route set allowing 0.0.0.0, 0.0.0.0 destination traffic out to my WAN interface address?

What Ports on the switch's should i have set as Layer 3?

Hi,

Does your boarder router having a default route and NAT enabled for the LAN subnet? Share the router configuration.

Have you created any VLAN for the Users?

Hi Deepak,

My Vlan for users is outlined in part2.

Router is using standard out of the box settings. only thing i change was the IP address of its LAN interface. This is a standard house hold router not a business grade one. NAT settings are default and im not sure what the default router would look like.
