Upload config to Cisco 877

Can you tell me the best way to upload configuration to the Cisco 877?

normaly i am using the TFTP server,

Hi,

The TFTP server option is the most reliable in my opinion.

You could even copy the configuration to a text file and paste it on the terminal emulation utility when needed. It works as well.

You're welcome!

Of course you can do it using Putty. Just copy the configuration from the text file and paste it on Putty. It's the same thing.

Remember to enter the global configuration mode using the following commands before you paste it:

Router>en

Router#conf t

Router(config)#

There are several ways ...

One, as you pointed out, is copy the config from the TFTP server to the running-config (I don't recommend copying the config to the startup config unless you are 110% your config actually works).   This is what I use 75% of the time.

Another method is to copy the config into a USB stick.

AFAIK, there's no USB port in 877.

Hello Paolo,

the answer i provide above with TFTP was if you are connected directly to the Switch/router with UTP cable,

but my second question was how to upload the config to the start-up config using Serial port,

while you are connected to the serial port you can't reach the TFTP ,

i hope you understand what i mean

With console port you can't use tftp. Just paste into putty as indicated above.

this the problem after i past in the putty somehow i lost the connection to the router, because the conf file contain new Network configuration ( new IP,Gatway...)

so no change to writ those to the memory,

Before you said you connect via console.

In this case, you never loose connection, no matter the configuration changes.

Or explain what your problem really is.

AFAIK, there's no USB port in 877.

Are you serious????  I got tons of 877 sitting in the storeroom.  I can visibly see TWO (2) USB ports.

If your router doesn't have USB ports then chances are they are the 850 or older models.  By the way, I have all these models in my storeroom too!

I've also used those USB ports to transfer files to and from selected USB sticks.
