no prob. glad to know 800 series (particularly 871s) got USB ports on them. would've been cool if it had on the 877s.

Getting confused with the 871 and the 877. Don't know why one has and the other one doesn't. Apologize for misleading everyone.

no worries mate, sometimes we made mistakes
i know the 871 has USB port which makes my life easy just upload the config from the USB unfortunatly the 877 doesnt have USB port and i still need to know how to load my config to the startup-config,
while i use copy and past in the putty i lost the connection with the router and can't writ all to the memory,
thank you

Again: when locally connect via console, no configuration commands can break connectivity.

Then either you are not local, or are not using serial console, or have a bad USB / serial adapter.

Peter,
How are you connecting via serial? -can you expand on losing connection, do you mean when you paste the config you exit the routers user exec/prv modes
and you need to log back in via the console.
Have you tried hyperterminal - via com the com port? (com1)
As Paolo stated this way you wont drop connection, unless you are connecting via tcp/ip telnet and the config you paste in changes the ip addressing of the router.

Hi Peter,
I think you need a lil bit editing on your config if some lines gets rejected. If you wana get this done, try copy n paste manually each line and avoiding those unecessary config. Don't forget to save. Good luck!

What happens when you do a cut-n-paste with Putty? Do you suddenly get "frozen" out? I have issues when I use putty and it just stops. This is why I use either HyperTerminal or SecureCRT.

Hello Leolaohoo,
its not freez in the first time but after some line like Johnlloyd mentioned,
some lines get rejected,
from my above script which lines can be rejected and why?
thank you guys for your support

hi peter,
checking on your config file, probably you got cut off with the line
'crypto pki trustpoint TP-self-signed-3102370011'
you may want to re-generate it back again with the '
ip http secure-server' command.
lastly, you may want to fill-in the lines with xxxx.
