I have 1811 , which yesterday had a problem with the CF. I want to use my USB support to boot from. I am reading for two days and really i can't find really useful info on cisco.com I think my RMMON doesn't support usb , becasue of the rmmon>dev command i issue and it didn't show mi my usbflash. Please point me in the right direction my router is :
1811
rommon 6 > showmon
ReadOnly ROMMON version is:
System Bootstrap, Version 12.3(8r)YH3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Technical Support: http://www.cisco.com/techsupport
Copyright (c) 2005 by cisco Systems, Inc.
Upgrade ROMMON version is:
System Bootstrap, Version 12.3(8r)YH5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
Technical Support: http://www.cisco.com/techsupport
Copyright (c) 2005 by cisco Systems, Inc.
Upgrade ROMMON currently running
Upgrade ROMMON is selected for next boot
i am aware of all usb FS and size restrictions , i've also format my usb for the correct C filesytem for the 1811 i believe the problem is in the RMMON features and version.
Thanks :)

Hi,
for the 1841, the download page states that certain rommon revisions have boot from usb capabilities.
For the 1811, the latest is C1800_RM2.srec.123-8r.YH12 but boot from usb is not mentioned.
So I guess you can only try to see if the latest does it.
Note all of the above requires registered customer (support contract).
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Thanks p.bevilacqua ,
I will download the newest and check it :)
There is no sense that my router have usb support , but i cannot use it as a alternative boot option. I hope i will boot 1811 after ROMMON upgrade :)
Thanks again and Cheers :)

Ivan,
You are correct about the ROMMON issue. I found the same issue with a 3845 router we had. I had to update the ROMMON to 12.4 to support the boot from USB option.
