Does Cisco, or anyone else do a cable that will allow me to connect my USB only laptop to a console port on a Cisco device?

Just do a google search for 'USB Serial' and you will find a lot of different models.

This type of cable is made but they are few and far between. If there is still interest in in them please let me know.

I have one but trying to use it with putty to connect and it will not let me rj45 to usb

It's similar to the product I pointed out before. Yes, it should work with Cisco devices.

I decided to make one of my own - see http://www.get-console.com/shop/en/18-usb-to-serial-cables
Embedded USB to RS232 chip in the USB housing and has native drivers for OSX, Win7 and Win8. RJ45 end pinned out for Cisco serial console port.
