Is there a way to use a 3600 router as an ATM switch? I want to set up a learning lab and have lots of spare ATM IMA cards for 3600 routers, but would also use the lab to test routers before being deployed to production.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Billy,
No router can be used as true ATM switch. You can kind of emulate that by placing the VCs in bridging, but that's all.
If you look on the used market, you will find that an LS1010, even with sophisticated switch processor cards, can be had very economically.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

so can we connect two routers having ATM modules back to back? the same way we are connecting serial ports?

Yes pretty much the same. Set clock internal on one only.
