Hi!

I need choose a router to interconnect Control Centre with several remote stations, what router model is recommended fot this network?

The link subsystem will need to link the equipment that will be installed in the different remote stations. There are six remote stations in total, which will be linked to the Main Control Center in Department of Merchant Shipping, and from the Main Control Centre it will be a separate link to connect the Secondary Control Center in JRCC/Larnaca. In addition, the Control Centers will act as an operational post from where the equipment on the remote stations will be managed remotely.

In all remote stations, the equipment will be linked to a router that will be a gateway to the Main Control Center. The links between the Main Control Center and the remote stations in Lara, Kremni, Fanos, Orites, Polemidia and Chionistra will be linked to the Main Control Centre by means of a Metro Ethernet Network. The link subsystem should interface with the Metro Ethernet network according to the specifications shown in the table below

Physical Interface

ΙΕΕΕ 803-3-2002, UTP, RJ45, 10/100/1000 Mbps

Standards

  • IEEE 802.3x full duplex
  • IEEE 802.1p CoS classification (optional - only if utilised by customer)
  • IEEE 802.1Q VLAN
  • IEEE 802.3 10BASE-T (for access speeds ≤ 10 Mbps)
  • IEEE 802.3u 100BASE-T (for access speeds = 100 Mbps)
  • IEEE 802.3ab 1000BASE-T (for access speeds = 1000 Mbps)

The Secondary Control Centre (JRCC/Larnaca) will be connected with the Main Control Centre by using Ethernet interface as well.

To choose a router you need to specify the circuit speed from ISP. E.g. 2 or 20 or 200 Mbps.

not specified in the features, but I guess it will be 12 mb

You can use, for example, an 881.

Or, for 2x the performance, an 890 series.  This would provide a bit more "headroom".
