Hi ,

we have a customer planning to deploy catalyst 8000v on ESXi/KVM environment for SDWAN use cases. we are looking for compute sizing required but could not find in any document,

please suggest if anyone has done such deployments and how you calculate the compute for different tiers.

Regards,

Avdhesh

The minimum resources needed are described here

1 vCPU: requires minimum 4 GB RAM allocation

2 vCPUs: requires minimum 4 GB RAM allocation

4 vCPUs: requires minimum 4 GB RAM allocation

8 vCPUs: requires minimum 8 GB RAM allocation

16 vCPUs: requires minimum 8 GB RAM allocation (supported from Cisco IOS XE 17.11.1a)

You must take a consideration the use of this 8000v

For example, will you use functions such as UTD? Then you would need a minimum of 8 RAM and 8 vCPUs,

Another example could be, if you needed DRE, well you would need 16 vCPUs: requires minimum 8 GB RAM allocation including 2TB of storage if this device functions as a controller or 600GB as an integrated controller.
