Hi, Najib.
1. So big version gap between CSR and Controllers !
It may occur the error because
- vManage has default config in the feature template (20.12.5)
- CSR may not be able to recognize that (16.12.5)
- So try to upgrade CSR version If possible
2. Check feature template > logging > buffer size
Thank you.
Please remark this as a solution If this is helpful.

CSR was originally built using 2 binary images, one for Autonomous routing and the other controller-managed for SDWAN. The CSR converged to a dual boot under a single binary image (after 16.12) so the image either loads the libraries for SDWAN or autonomous (it defaults to autonomous). CSR1kv is a marketing term and it changed to CAT8kv starting in 17.4 code so the virtual router has the same branding as the latest hardware platforms. The code should be in alignment between the controllers and the edge devices. The first two numbers should be aligned. If the controller is on 20.12.xx release the edge device should be on 17.12.xx release. CAT8kv is also a dual boot image and the 17.12 version can be downloaded here: https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286327102/type/282046477/release/Dublin-17.12.5b

Thanks so much for all this useful details. I have both nodes C8k with image 17.12.5a and CSR1k with image 16.12.5 which apparently either i have to change CSR1k nodes to a compatible image or change it to C8K.
but the part controller and edge alignment first two numbers im confused, you mean like as Im using vmange version 20.12.5 then I have to use vedge with version start wih 20.12.x ? maybe its a typo in your comment

20.12.5 on controllers aligns to 17.12.5 on the edge. Not a typo. Control connections are supported when the controllers are at a higher version compared to the edge (20.12.xx, and 17.9.xx) but there could be differences in the yang models which can cause template errors. Having alignment between the code versions aligns the models so there should not be errors when deploying a template. Controllers running on a lower version compared to the edge (20.12.xx, 17.15.xx) are not supported.

Thank you! then probably even if I use CSRv1000 ver 17.x.x i get same error and with manager version im running better to use C8K and not CSR

Hi,
CSR1K is not supported from 20.10 version sd-wan.
Use C8000V instead.
