SD-WAN Device Failures

Hi Guys,

I have a doubt regarding network device failures. If a network device goes down, the up-links (incoming link and out going link) should be bridged and the network functions should work without any issues. How do we call this mechanism?

Regards,

Senthu

Are you referring to the terms "Fail to wire" or "Fail Open"?

Explanation: The LAN-WAN connection becomes a straight-through connection if the transit appliance is going through hardware or software failure.

Hi

Yes. "Fail Open". Is it support in SD-WAN solution?

Senthu

I believe the fail-to-wire feature is currently not available in the Viptela-based SD-WAN solution.

I think only transparent devices can do this.

ASA on wire mode and Riverbed in Fail-to-wire , I believe, can be taken out of packet path.

Since device failed, unless it is designed as such, there is no managing process to put ports into a bridge group.

But, I think it can be done.

Their answer is buy two!

There is no such feature in Cisco SD-WAN.
