vSmart Controller - cEdge

RS19

This is regarding vSmart controller Public IP Address.

By understanding is that when cEdge comes online it contacts vBond for authentication.

Once authentication is successful, vBond provides the vManage and vSmart controller IPs to cEdge.

Is my understanding right ?

In additon in cEdges are there any settings where vSmart Public IPs are manually configured ?

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Yes I have seen this article.
Based on this my understanding is that whenever there is change in the Public IP address of vSmart,
vBond will be updating the cEdges with the new IP address. With this cEdge will know about the new vSmart IP addresses.

Hope my above understanding is right.
Further there are 2 clarifications.

- When there is change in Public IP Address of vSmart how ill vBond push the latest IP Address to cEdge. The cEdge has already know the old vSmart IP and has already established the connection. In this scenario how it works ?
- Will there be downtime when the vSmart IP address is getting changed ?

Any help ?

any inputs ?

Any help

Is my below understanding right ?
When cEdge not able to connect with vSmart, it will try to connect with vBond. If vBond has new vSmart IP address it willl provide the cEdge with the new vSmart IP address ?

Is this right ?

Hi,

when there is change in IP address of vSmart, vSmart will tear-down its all control connections. It will go to vBond with newer IP address. vBond understands that this is previous vSmart but its IP is change (how? vBond keep controller information serial number/organization name).

After that, vBond updates edge routers with newer information of vSmart.

HTH,
Please rate and mark as an accepted solution if you have found any of the information provided useful.

ok thanks.

What is the timer for  the cEdge to contact the vBond ? After how much time cEdge will know that vSmart is not reachable & it takes decision to contact vBond ?

can you share me the documentation which explains this ?
