3110X Etherchannel Configuration Issue

So we've recently purchased two IBM BladeCenter H series chassis.  Each bladcenter has four Cisco 3110x switches installed in slots 1 through 4.  The switches are stacked together with slots 1&2 being a stack and slots 3&4 being a separate stack.  I've configured cross stack etherchannel using LACP on both the access ports 1 through 13 and on the ten gig interfaces back to the upstream aggregation switches with no problem.

What I'm running into across all eight 3110x's is port 14 will not allow me to add it to an etherchannel.  I'm getting the error below and I cannot find any documentation that specifies a limitation on port 14 in these switches.

Here's the configuration of the interface before attempting to add it to an etherchannel.

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/14

switchport mode access

end

Here's the configuration and error I'm getting when trying to add it to a channel group.

DC-XENBLADE01-AS1-D13#conf t

Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.

DC-XENBLADE01-AS1-D1(config)#int g1/0/14

DC-XENBLADE01-AS1-D1(config-if)#channel-group 24 mode active

GigabitEthernet1/0/14 is not added to port channel 24

This error happens when trying to use LACP and no negotiation protocol "channel-group 24 mode on".  Has anyone here seen this issue or know of any documentation that would specify a limitation of this port?  All of the switches are running "cbs31x0-universal-mz.122-52.SE.bin".

Any suggestions or insight is much appreciated!

John

John,

I have seen the same exact problem with X3110 series and IBM H series chassis.  The IOS that resolves this issue comes from IBM.  Contact your local IBM sales or SE engineer and ask for this IOS.

lacp-53-se-cbs31x0-universalk9-mz.bin

Once permission granted, you can download this from IBM's site.

Reza,

I will get with our IBM team and try the IOS you specified this week.  I will report back once I'm given a maintenance window for the upgrade.

Thank you very much for your help!

John
