While testing ALPS backup peer configs, we noticed that when the primary peer is failed and connectivity is through the backup peer, the ALPS circuit is dropped after 4-5 minutes of inactivity at the terminal. The remote router then goes through the process of trying to reconnect to the failed primary up to the retry value, then connects to the backup. During this period the service is unavailable. Can this inactivity timer be disabled?

Hi Richard,
It looks like you should be able to just code a value of "0" following the "dynamic" parameter on the alps remote-peer command for the backup peer. Like this
"(config)# alps remote-peer 172.22.0.92 dynamic 0"

If that doesn't work, you probably ought to call TAC, in case it's broken.

Thanks, I have dynamic 0 configured. I'll open with TAC.
