Calculating MTBF

One of my customer would like information on the MTBF on the Cisco kit we use in their network.

They recently had a high profile outage (it was a power issue) that highlighted a single point of failure. This has raised the issue with their senior managment who want to know how reliable the network should be.

I would recommend picking up a copy of "High Availability Network Fundamentals", Cisco Press ISBN 1-58713-017-3. It helps walk you through the process of determining your network's reliability in terms of MTBF. It's actually not very Cisco-specific, you can use it for other equipment as well.
