is there ever a good reason to increase mac table aging time and if so, is there a real world maximum short of the max allowed range?

Hello,

We typically only adjust this value if the customer has a specific use case for the same. Microsoft NLB is an example where you may need to adjust the timeout values.

Unless you are running into an issue where you want the MAC to age faster or slower, you should leave the default values.

HTH,

Wes
