Hi,
I am working with a client who would like to use multiple 7018 chassis as Server Access vs. 5k and 2k's
Putting the commercial angle to the side are there any reasons technically why this is a bad idea
My view is that it should work fine, assuing they do not need FC connectivity
The 7018's would be running in L2 mode and have just M1 cards onboard.
Thanks

Top of the rack with nexus5500 and 2000 is generally consifered a good idea becaus ease of cabling. End of the raw oe middle of raw designs with 7018 are still acceptable provided you plan cabling carefully
Technically speaking there is issue using 7018 as access switch. You can carve a F module only vdc for access switch and use another vfc fir routing.

Hi Nathan
That is possible - you can use N7K as an access switch. If you will have F1 cards for an access and only M1 card - all F1 cards will be using M1 as a proxy for routing.
Also you can use N2K with N7K as well.
XL cards supports FEX on N7K platform.

Alex
