SNASW Multiple CPNAME and DLUS

Hi, Can I create multiple CPNAMEs, DLUS, ports, and link definitions in a router? I tried but commands got rejected. I want to conect to two different HOST.

Hi,

You can only have one snasw cpname. You must have the same CPNAME at each host. This is commonly done by many customers. Is there any reason you cannot do this?

You can define a primary and backup DLUS as such:

snasw dlus NETA.HOST1 backup NETA.HOST2

If a PU is not defined to HOST1, SNASw will start a session with HOST2 to send the REQACTPU there.

You can have multiple ports. It is not necessary to do so though, as you can connect to multiple hosts via the same port. Most commonly, customers will define one HPR-IP port upstream--often on a loopback interface--for host connections, and one or more ports for downstream connections.

You can also have multiple links defined, and this is necessary for connecting to multiple hosts.

We probably ought to understand why you need to host connections. I've answered your questions but there may be better ways to configure this depending on what you are doing. If one of them is a data host you might want to define a vnname (connection network) on your upstream port instead of defining a link, and you would not define that host as a dlus. Are these hosts in different networks, or do they own the same set of resources (PUs)?

In case this is not clear, what I meant by this is that you can only configure one CPNAME at the local SNASw, and this is the name SNASw will present to each host (and downstream device) it connects to. It is not possible for SNASw to present one name to one host, and a different name to another.
