We have a server that's been off warranty for a few months. It only has 32GB of RAM, but it's heavily used everyday. It's used to run ExacQvision camera software, monitoring activity in our Testing Center with 61 HD cameras. Lately it's performance has degraded, likely due to the large workload it's currently handling. So I'm considering increasing RAM to a much higher threshold.
First, I have a few questions:
First, what's the max amount of memory this server can run?
Second, are the memory sticks considered Cisco proprietary?
Third, assuming it's upgradable, where can I purchase additional RAM?

Greetings.
Spec sheet is at: https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/c240m5-lff-specsheet.pdf
starting at page 20 for memory related.
Also memory config info also listed at: https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/memory-guide-c220-c240-b200-m5.pdf
If you have trouble finding orderable Cisco PIDs for those listed dimms, you might want to take a look at https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computing/ucs-c-series-rack-servers/ucs-hyperflex-accessories-eol14611.pdf and see if there are any newer DIMM replacement PIDs that should still work.
From spec sheet:
"The UCS C240 M5 LFF server extends the capabilities of Cisco’s Unified Computing System portfolio in a 2U
form factor with the addition of the 2nd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors, 2933-MHz DDR4
memory, and the new 512GB Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory (PMem). With this combination of features,
up to 9 TB of memory is possible (using 12 x 256 GB DDR4 DIMMs and 12 x 512 GB PMem), up to 6 PCI Express
(PCIe) 3.0 slots, and up to 12 front-facing internal LFF drives. The C240 M5 LFF server also includes one
dedicated internal slot for a 12G SAS storage controller card."
