The Cisco® Catalyst® Express 520 Switches are a series of fixed-configuration, standalone managed Ethernet devices that provide the reliability, security, scalability, and rich feature set that growing businesses need in an affordable, easy-to-use platform. Designed specifically for small and medium sized organizations with up to 250 employees, the solutions provide wire-speed Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, integrated security, quality-of-service (QoS) and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) features to support IP communications and wireless LAN applications. A component of the Cisco Smart Business Communications System—the Cisco Catalyst Express 520 Series supports business’ voice, security, and wireless networking services.
The Cisco Catalyst Express 520 Switches feature:

- Robust Network Security - Switch management traffic can be encrypted with Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Network security can be set with the Cisco Configuration Assistant security slider, which offers three pre-configured security levels.
- QoS - Cisco Smartports optimizes network QoS and security settings to ensure consistent network performance for delay-sensitive data such as real-time voice.
- High Performance - The switches provide non-blocking, wire-speed switching on all ports to increase network availability and bandwidth, as well as features to manage port congestion and preserve performance.
