Wide Area Networks (WANs) are networks that cover a large area unlike Local Area Networks (LANs). The ISA500 Series Integrated Security Appliance can have two WAN ports at the same time. Dual WAN uses two WAN connections at the same time so that, even if one connection fails, the other connection continues to provide Internet access to the network. This feature is helpful for load balancing which allows traffic to be distributed over the two WAN connections in different ways.
