CSPC Manual Patch prior to Upgrade from 2. 5

Hello all. we are trying to upgrad CSPC from 2.5 to 2.7.4.2. In the upgrade guid it says it says

"1Use the links to download the respective patch files jeos-20.1.2-0-lnx64.zip and JeOS_Patch_To_Enable_ASD.zip from the download center and install them on the collector as described in Manual Installation"

Then under manual installation it states Step 5Apply JeOS patches, one at a time using the below command (installation runs in background)
/opt/LCM/bin/lcmagent-apply.tcl JeOS /home/collectorlogin/<jeos patch>
&
•Ex: /opt/LCM/bin/lcmagent-apply.tcl JeOS /home/collectorlogin/jeos-20.1.2-0- lnx64.zip &
A-2
CSPC Collection Platform Software Upgrade User Manual
Appendix A Installation of Software Updates Tab
Manual Installation
•Ex: /opt/LCM/bin/lcmagent-apply.tcl JeOS /home/collectorlogin/jeos-30.0.4-0- lnx64.zip &

Step 6Monitor the installation by executing the following command: tail -f /opt/LCM/logs/apply

When we try to manually install the Patches, the machine looks like it's doing something. The Cursor is flashing. So at this point I ctrlC and run the tail command

tail -f /opt/LCM/logs/apply

However at this point all we can see in the logs is  as follows

[root@localhost collectorlogin]# tail -f /opt/LCM/logs/apply
[Tue Aug 25 04:53:05 UTC 2015] Executed post-install scripts
[Tue Aug 25 04:53:05 UTC 2015] Installation of software package of type "SP" completed successfully
[Thu Nov 8 14:51:14 UTC 2018] Called with arguments "JeOS" and "/home/collectorlogin/jeos-20.1.2-0-lnx64.zip"
[Thu Nov 8 14:51:39 UTC 2018] Executing pre-install scripts

[Thu Nov 8 15:24:37 UTC 2018] Executed pre-install scripts
[Thu Nov 8 15:24:37 UTC 2018] Executing install script for "Hardened CentOS"

IT IS AS IF WHEN i HAVE PRESSED CTRLc THAT THE JOB HAS STOPPED RUNNING. IS THIS THE CASE OR HOW DO I RECTIFY THIS?

we have just tried to run the patches again and her is the output of the tailed log. this time the last entry is the time we actually applied the patch for a second time

[root@localhost collectorlogin]# tail -f /opt/LCM/logs/apply

Hi user,

I would request you to go with non-erroneous and faster route of redeploying with latest one. Installation guide has step-by-step configuration command for new install as well. Please do let me know if you have any question on new installation.

Thanks,

Thanks Supriya. We will start afresh with a new Install. I will let you know how we get on. I'll keep this discussion open in case i come across any issues.

Thanks,

Brian

I have now built this again from scratch. Thanks for the advice. However. I did waste a day trying to upgrade it. It is pointless Cisco giving an upgrade process if this process doesn't work?

Brian
