CSPC migration scripts

Has any one had success to use migration scripts to upgrade Version 2.8.1.8 to Version 2.9 or Version 2.10 ? We have tried both the migration scripts to go from Version 2.8 to 2.9 and also the script to go form 2.8 to 2.10. Had issues with both. Lost access to the admin shell, kept losing access to web GUI every few hours etc. The only option left appears to be start totally form scratch. If starting from scratch, and suggestion to reduce the work i.e. importing networks, SNMP credentials etc.

Hi rhallan,

Shared below are the release notes for the deployment of CSPC 2.10
On Page 3 you will be getting the Migration Guide which can be used to import most of the stored settings from CSPC 2.8 and 2.9 installations.

Link of Release notes 2.10 :
https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/support/docs/cloud-systems-management/common-services-platform-collector-cspc/CSPC_2-10_Release_Notes.pdf

Further you can deploy fresh OVA 2.10 using the below link :
https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286312935/type/286312958/release/2.10

The password for the Admin is setup at the time of the initial deployment of the CSPC.
Once the password is set you can login on CLI using admin as a username
Further for setting the root & Collectorlogin passwords you can set it by using the below command via Admin:
For collectorlogin :
pwdreset collectorlogin 90

For root:
pwdreset root 90

Let us know if there are any further issues.

Thanks & Regards

Yes, I followed the guides but the migration scripts did not work.
I have followed the process to migrate to 2.10 and the box was up for some
time but keeps going offline (loss to web GUI) and have the issues to go to
admin shell as below:

*****PID file exists. But Adminshell service is not completely up.*****
*****If adminshell is restarted manually, please wait for 15-20 mins .*****

*****If adminshell is not restarted manually Please check nohup.out log at
/opt/cisco/ss/adminshell/logs for any errors .*****
*****Try restarting adminshell once using 'service adminshell restart'
command .

Restarts and reboots did not help.

Hi rhallan,

Can we have the WebEx session to troubleshoot the issue further. You can share the availability with email address in Personal Message.

Thanks & Regards

Hi rhallan,

Had a WebEx session to help with the upgrade:

Troubleshooting Done:
• CSPC 2.10 OVA was successfully deployed on the account.
• While applying patch for version 2.10.0.1 the system rebooted & IP wasn't pinging
• Checked VM & restarted
• The console was directing to the grub
• Troubleshooted on grub however it wasn't working
• Asked to re-ploy the CPSC again

Further, the CSPC was again deployed to 2.10 version.
We weren't able to download the patch 2.10.0.1 via LCM method. Error received : Download information is not available.
Restarted the Adminshell, however it didn't work.
Hence, proceeded to upgrade the patch using transfer method.

Had a WebEx session again to upgrade via transfer method.
Troubleshooting 2 Done:

• Successfully applied JeOS patch on CLI
• Execution of the JeOS patch 2.10.0.1 was taking longer time (As the CSPC version takes almost 3+ hrs to complete the process)

Lastly, asked to inform us regarding the JeOS patch when the installation is completed & further asked to apply the SP patch to complete the upgrade process.

Hence, the collector was successfully installed with both the patches required & shared the screenshot as well.
The collector was successfully upgraded to version 2.10.0.1

Thanks & Regards
