Devices missed while collect and upload data to SNTC portal

Hi Support Team

I had all my devices discovered and managed in the CPSC appliance, but every time I run the collect profile and verify in the portal, there would have some devices missed that could not found hem in any of the tab in the portal, even there had more than 100 devices missed one time. These devices are not fixed, one time would be these five devices, and next time would be those six devices.

Is anybody know what cause this and how to solved it?

Thanks.

Hi Jerry,

On your collector, select Reports > Data Collection Profile Run Summary > View Data

And see if the device is listed there. If it is, select it, and then from the drop down select the Physical Entity MIB and see if any data is populated for those devices.

Also, be sure to check that the devices are supported.

Thanks,

Lynden

Hi Lynden

I am sure that all these missed devices are supported.Because we have some pair of firewalls, switches or routers and they are the same platform and configuration. But sometimes one member device of a pair would missed.

I do it follow the steps that you provided, and have some question as below and please refer to the pictures attached:

1.I select one of the missed devices and use the filter on the left in "Collection Profile Run Summary",an error appears like the pic "error when filtering",then the error appears again onec I select from the drop down options. What cause this error and will it affect the collector.

2. There has no "Physical Entity MIB" you said.I can found "Entity MIB_entPhysical" from drop down select only, and some data is populated for these devices.

3.What should I do then?

Thanks.

1. This is a known bug. The data is there, but the browser is unable to display it.

2. It looks like the data is populated in the inventory.

3. It is also possible that you are having intermittent device connectivity issues. Raise the timeout by going to: Settings > Discovery Options and double the discovery timeout.

4. If you still encounter issues, it could be a problem with the devices begin processed on the portal. Are there any devices that have never appeared on the portal?

Thanks,

Lynden

Hi Lynden

The timeout is 3 seconds by default,I raised it to 9 seconds and tried 2 times to collector.Unfortunately, the missed device is more than before. As you mentioned before, there has some devices that have never appeared, for example, one of the Nexus 5000 switch while other Nexus 5000 switches were normal, or a VDC of Nexus 7000,just like the Nexus 5000,other VDCs were normal.

Do you have some approach to solve the issue above. The collector make no sense unless it can provide a full list.

Another question:

Sometimes the collector didn't upload data to SNTC portal after I run the collect profile. I met this issue for many times.

Thanks a lot.

I have this problem also - random devices that are discovered and managed in the Collector do not appear in the Inventory in the SNTC Portal. This renders the Portal completely useless, because any Report I run will be incomplete. I checked the Collection Profile Run Summary and they're not there either..

Hi Galvin,

If managed devices are not listed in the collection profile run summary, then that means that, although they were discovered, they were not inventoried.

Check Reports > Inventory Jobs to make certain the last scheduled inventory ran successfully.

You can manually run an inventory by going to Management > Run Collection Profile and selecting the sntc1x_min_cp. Then you should be able to watch and see what happens when the collector tries to inventory the specific devices that you are having issues with.

Thanks,

Lynden
