Upgrade 3-node DNAC cluster from 2.2.2.8 to 2.3.5.5

I have read the upgrade process to get a DNAC 2.2.2.8 deployment upgraded to 2.3.5.5 with the intermediary step to 2.2.3.6/7 and I am OK with the steps.  However there are a bunch of application updates showing for 2.2.2.8 and I can't see whether these need to be upgraded prior to switching the repo to 2.2.3.6 or whether I can just switch and then upgrade the apps when I'm at 2.2.3.6.

It will just make the job slightly shorter.

Edit: I misunderstood the original post, see replies below.

It is fine to switch, then upgrade. I would also recommend running an AURA report before proceeding with the upgrade.

first i would check is the backup completed and out of the box.

when you upgrade to 2.2.3.7 ( i will intiate another back success before i upgrade to 2.3.5.5

Software Upgrade

In a multinode cluster, you can trigger an upgrade of the whole cluster from the Cisco DNA Center GUI (the GUI represents the entire cluster and not just a single node). An upgrade triggered from the GUI automatically upgrades all the nodes in the cluster.

Look at the release notes :

After you upgrade to 2.3.5.5, you cannot switch back to an earlier release.

Bear in my recent my upgrade 2.2.3.7  to 2.3.5.5 (took nealy 14 hours to 16hours depends on the data on DNAC).

make sure what hardware you have version is important.

There is a specific note that says this:

I am trying to understand if I need to update the packages at 2.2.2.8 before I switch to 2.2.3.6.

I definitely don't want to be re-imaging and restoring backups.

Edit: I misunderstood the original post, see replies below.

If i have understood your OP correctly you should be good to go. You would only need to perform another upgrade to 2.2.2.8 repo if you are running 2.1.X.

The "important" field from the docs are stating that the previous upgrade must have fully completed before proceeding.

When I login to the current 2.2.2.8 system and go to software updates, I am presented with this:

If I scroll down the page I also see this:

Showing me various application updates that are available to the 2.2.2.8 system.

Should I upgrade these applications before I switch to 2.2.3.6?

Sorry, I misunderstood your original post. Yes, you should install those before proceeding.

if your current version 2.2.2.8  - then you need to follow the below steps :

Upgrade from Release 2.2.2.x to Release 2.3.5.5

ou must first upgrade to 2.3.3.7. From there, you can upgrade directly to 2.3.5.5.

Yes, I have read the steps - Cisco Catalyst Center Upgrade Guide - Upgrade to Cisco DNA Center 2.3.5.5 [Cisco Catalyst Center] - Cisco

And I am happy with that.  Its just this one element of the 2.2.2.8 applications.

Torbjørn - Yes, that's what I needed.
