Hi,

I have a configuration of UCS-FI connected to MDS 9148 and a Port Channel is configured and active, but when this setup has been implemented we forgot to enable the FC Uplink Trunking feature.

here is our port channel config on UCS-FI :

UCSFI-A(nxos)# show int san-port-channel 101

san-port-channel 101 is up

    Hardware is Fibre Channel

    Port WWN is xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

Admin port mode is NP, trunk mode is off

We would like to enable this feature but as it's a Global setting for both FIs, we don't know how to proceed as we have existing port channel already active and in use.

On the MDS side trunking mode is already on :

MDS01# show int port-channel 101

port-channel101 is up

    Hardware is Fibre Channel

    Port WWN is xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

Admin port mode is F, trunk mode is on

I would appreciate to get some guidelines on how to proceed.

Thanks in advance

Rgds

Greetings.

You basically just enable the FC trunking on each FI, which does not require a reboot.

For the VSAN(s) that are allowed on both sides of the trunk will stay up, and any that aren't will go into isolated status.

In UCSM 3.23a when checking in the Lab, the physical FC port still has a vsan drop down box, but this has no real impact after trunking is enabled.

Thanks,

Kirk...
