I have an MDS 9509 that is generating the message "write error: No space left on device" whenever I perform a "dir log:".
the output looks as follows:
MDS9509# dir log:
who: write error: No space left on device
31 Jun 24 21:31:07 2008 dmesg
3313664 Jul 19 17:57:21 2012 messages
31999 Oct 17 19:27:55 2012 startupdebug
Usage for log://sup-local
209715200 bytes used
0 bytes free
209715200 bytes total
Also, if I do a "show logging logfile" I get the same message with "Internal error in displaying logfile".
SANCore1# show logging logfile
who: write error: No space left on device
Internal error in displaying logfile - 80050013
any advice on fixing this issue will be much appreciated.
thank you.

You might want to click on the link to open an SR from this Discussion.
Provide the following output.
show sytem internal flash
show system internal dir /var/sysmgr/ftp
show system internal dir /var/tmp
show cores

Thanks for the info.
the commands you provided all work except the ones with "dir". It gives me an "invalid command detected" message.
MDS9509# show system internal dir /var/sysmgr/ftp
^
% invalid command detected at '^' marker.
SANCore1# show system internal dir /var/tmp
^
% invalid command detected at '^' marker.
Thanks again.

BTW, the caret symbol is actually under "dir" not internal.
thanks.

Hello Rudy,
Since you have a MDS9509. You can just do "system switchover" This will clear /tmp which filled up the / directory
Thanks
