Anyone else having problems with SG500XG-8F8T?

Hi all

I'm wondering if other users have massive problems with their SG500XG-8F8T gear as well?

When we first installed them and added them to the stack of another two SG500X-24P switches (so 2x SG500X-24P & 2x SG500XG-8F8T), we saw fatal errors and the whole stack crashing on a regular base.

Upon advice from Cisco, we split the stacks into two separate Stacks with the SG500X-24P's in one stack, and the 2x SG500XG-8F8T in another stack, connecting them together using redundant LACP trunk ports.

However, we currently keep losing the connection with both ports dropping out of the Trunk. Cisco was/is looking into this issue, but we haven't got any further in the last week or two.

Does anyone else have such problems as well? Do we have two "monday-models" of switches?

We're seriously considering getting a refund for them, they are unusable in their current state :(

Thanks
Michel

We had to split up the stack into 2 stacks (2x SG500X-8F8T & 2x SG500x-24P), this seemed to work for the fatal errors.

Also, our other issue with the switches missbehaving with flapping links between the stacks and weird behavior seems to have been caused by bad cables.

We have replaced the cables interconnecting the 2 stacks now, and it has been running fine now for 2 weeks. (fingers crossed!)

Michel is this still working?  Any new developments with it? Based on your solution, is the Cisco recommendation to NOT stack a SG500X-8F8t with a SG500X-24P?  If that is the case, then clearly my solution isn't going to work.

My customers 8F8T started having major issues and the latency got really bad. A few days later the switch completely died and I could not even console into it. After only 6 weeks installed I had to RMA it and get a replacement. The replacement has been in the field about 2 weeks and I am hoping it lasts much longer.

Before I returned the switch I opened it to see if I could re-seat the RAM or something and found the issue. I am not sure what causes it, but I have attached the images that I captured.

Hi Rodney,

If I were you I would not advertise this so much as opening switch is against any warranty rules :-)
