Hello,
I have a CBS350-16P-2G switch and am trying to use port 17 and port 18 with GLC-TE optics.
According to datasheet this optic is supported:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/business-350-series-managed-switches/datasheet-c78-744156.html (search Supported SFP modules)
The ethernet cable is known working cable as its plugged into the existing L2 trunk port on the same switch. Whenever the cable is moved to port GE17 or port GE18. The port remains down no syslog message.
The switch sees both optics

One concern is that the ports are showing 1G-Fiber when this is CAT5e/copper ports:
SWITCH#show interfaces status GigabitEthernet17
Flow Link Back Mdix
Port Type Duplex Speed Neg ctrl State Pressure Mode
-------- ------------ ------ ----- -------- ---- ----------- -------- -------
gi17 1G-Fiber -- -- -- -- Down -- --
SWITCH#show interfaces configuration GigabitEthernet17 (cable currently on port GE17)
Flow Admin Back Mdix
Port Type Duplex Speed Neg control State Pressure Mode
-------- ------------ ------ ----- -------- ------- ----- -------- ----
gi17 1G-Fiber Full 1000 Disabled Off Up Disabled Auto
The system detects the SFP(S):
SWITCH#13-Aug-2022 03:10:49 %NSFP-I-SFPGibicRemoved: gi18 SFP port is not present
13-Aug-2022 03:10:51 %LINK-I-Up: gi18
13-Aug-2022 03:10:52 %LINK-W-Down: gi18
13-Aug-2022 03:10:54 %NSFP-I-SFPGibicDetected: gi18 SFP port is present, module type - 1000BASE-T
The port will not come up.

- Do you have the option to test these SFP's on another (high end) Cisco switch that can (also) do GLC-TE ?

- I can't find any reason it should not work , therefore I advised this test if it would have been possible, for the rest you can engage Cisco on this : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/web/tsd-cisco-small-business-support-center-contacts.html

- Could you try to set the Port Type to copper according to : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/csbms/CBS_250_350/Administration-Guide/cbs-350/port-management.html#ID-00002486

Unfortunately that is not an option.

- Are these copper SFP's bought from Cisco and or Cisco branded ?
