CBS350-8FP-2G No Internet Access for VLANs

Hi all,

First time to Cisco switches and this Community.

I’ve searched on the issue I’m having and found similar posts but have been unable to apply those solutions to my issue.

I used the Cisco Tech Talks videos listed below to setup a CBS350 8FP 2G switch (static IP address 192.168.1.15) with vlan_10 (access ports 5-6) and vlan_20 (access ports 7-8).  vlan_10 assigns IP addresses from a DHCP pool 192.168.10.100 - 192.168.10.120; vlan_20 assigns IP addresses from a DHCP pool 192.168.20.100 - 192.168.20.120.

  • Cisco Tech Talks: Convert CBS Switch Dynamic IP Address to a Static IP Address
  • Cisco Tech Talks: Configuring Port to VLAN Interface Settings via CLI on CBS250 & 350 Switches
  • Cisco Tech Talks: Configuring DHCP pools for multi-LAN environments

Vlan_10 clients (ports 5&6) & vlan_20 clients (ports 7&8) should have Internet access through Trunk port GE 1 but don’t.

Clients connected to switch ports 2-4 obtain IP addresses in the 192.168.1.xxx DHCP pool from a Spectrum router and have Internet access.

Clients connected to switch ports 5-6 (VLAN 10) obtain IP addresses in the 192.168.10.xxx DHCP pool range but are unable to access the Internet

Clients connected to switch ports 7-8 (VLAN 20) obtain IP addresses in the 192.168.20.xxx DHCP pool range but are unable to access the Internet

What did I do wrong in the configuration that is preventing VLAN 10 and VLAN 20 clients from accessing the Internet?

OK @kwallerjr, thanks for the output.

Where is the IP 192.168.1.1? Spectrum router? If yes do you have static route on that Spectrum to reach vlan 10 and vlan 20.... with next hop 192.168.1.15 ?

Best regards

Hello @kwallerjr,

Is it a DNS issue? Do you have DNS IP given through DHCP?

Hi,

Clients connected to ports 2-4, obtain IP addresses from Spectrum, use 129.168.1.1 (primary DNS) and 8.8.8.8 (secondary DNS)

I added 192.168.1.1 to VLAN 10 & 20 in Network Pool Table (IPv4 configuration -> DHCP Server -> Network Pools (see image below)

@kwallerjr,

From vlan 10 or 20 do you join DNS IP?

VLAN10 & VLAN20 clients can ping 192.168.1.15 (CBS350 static IP of port 1) but can't ping 192.168.1.1

192.168.1.1 is the Spectrum router.  It is not a business router so I have no way of editing NAT or other settings
