Difference between Native Stacking & Standalone for 1x Switch?

Hi all,

I noticed that the SG500X switches come in Native Stacking mode. I'm finding some of these in various systems that other techs have configured left this way, even though they are the only switch in the system. So I am wondering if there are any differences between Native Stacking and Standlone modes when the switch is by itself.

Thanks.

Hi @nmarques

By definition:

• Standalone—The device is not connected to any other device and
does not have a stack port.
• Native Stacking—A device can connect to other devices of the same
type through its stack ports to form a stack. All units in a native stack
must be of the same type (either all Sx500s or all SG500Xs).

The main different is the stack port.
