Optical transceiver compatibilty

Hello,

Can someone please help me to find out GLC-LH-SMD and GLC-BX-D have same compatibilties to the connecting fibre links in the devices. I'm new to transceivers. As far as my knowledge, GLC-BX-D is bidirectional and is that the only one which makes it different from GLC-LH-SMD?

Someone pls help!

Hi there,

Yes you are correct, the GLC-BX-D is bi-directional and therefore only requires a single strand of single-mode fibre to operate.

That is the only difference to a GLC-LH-SMD.

cheers,

Seb.

Thanks.

In GLC-LH-SMD it has 1000BASE-LX/LH long-wavelength hence GLC-BX-D that 1000BASE-BX10-D  is downstream bidirectional single mode fiber.

Don't forget you deed a GLC-BX-U= at the other side of the GLC-BX-D= link ( so if 1 fiber strand is in use )

If 2 stands 9µm are in the fiber cable, you can use GLC-LH-SMD= at both sides.

Don't forget both have an LC connector ( 1 for the GLC-BX-U  and GLC-BX-D , 2 for the  GLC-LH-SMD= )
