How can I configure my switch to send an SMS alert whenever the interface goes down? This currently has two Internet links connected.
Is it possible to utilize a 3G Module to send SMS alerts based on events?
This should work even without the internet.

depending on the switch you can use EEM if supported and script it

yes if your switch supports 3g module , some routers do like 890s not sure about switches though

Mark , if you are using EEM, do you need any additional hardware appliance like a SMS gateway to achieve this?
Thank you for helping out.

yes EEM is just how you would program it on the cli to send the sms , you still need something cellular like 3g interface or an sms gateway something that has access to that medium
if you search the forum you will see there has been a couple fo variant scripts people have written to do it
