SG-200 to 887 Router trunk. Is this possible?

Hello to all,

We have a Cisco 887 router and a Cisco SG-200 switch.

We'd like to setup trunking between these 2 devices for multiple VLANs on the switch to be made available on the router.

With previous routers, you could set the router up in the configuration 'router-on-a-stick' and VLANs worked like a charm but the 887 no longer support sub-interfaces.

So how can you get trunking working between the 2 devices?

Is there a VTP configuration menu for the SG-200 which we can setup in order for it to talk 'VTP' with the 887 router??

Hi Karparthian,

For your information,

SG 200 switches will not support VTP configurations.

But you call do the trunking in any ports and allow the required  VLAN in that Trunk ports.

To do Trunking:

Goto Menu: VLAN management--->interface settings----> select the port number to change mode to Trunk/Access/General(By default its Trunk)

To  Allow the VLANs:

Goto Menu: VLAN management---->VLAN to port---->Allow the required VLANs in the Trunk port.

Moorthy
