SG200-50 Firmware Issue

Hi,

I have multiple SG200-50 switces which i have successfully upgraded the boot code and firmware without issues.

However one switch simply refuses to be upgraded via HTTP or TFTP, it is running FW 1.2.9.44 and Boot 1.1.0.6.

I have downloaded all FW versions from Cisco including earlier versions and no matter what version i use or method to load it onto the switch i keep getting an illegal software format message for FW and wrong boot file format when trying to load the boot code.

I have also done a full factory reset and tried all of the above again, but unfortunatly with the same issues.

Any help will be greatly appriciated.

Hello:

Below is the link to the SG200 firmware:

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283771818&flowid=24301&softwareid=282463182&release=1.0.0.19&rellifecycle

Please make Sure that you are using the SG200 FW and boot.

Also, you must step up the firmware:

1.3.0.6 --> 1.3.7.18 -> 1.4.0.88

           --> Boot 1.3.5.06

Regards, Mike

Guys,

Thank you for your reply's but i dont think you have fully understood my current suituation.

I am fully aware of the intrim step-up and had to do it for all the other switches, this particular one however will not accepet any firmware regardless of its version, i have even tried to step it down one version with the same results. I have downloaded and tried every single version availabe from Cisco all without success.

Hello,

If you are using the correct firmware and boot files for the SG200, then you may have a hardware issue.

Please give Cisco support a call at 866.606.1866.

Regards,

Thank You Michael,

From that number i was able to get the UK number, i will contact them tomorrow when they open again.

For the sake of helping others, I want to share the solution with everyone:

1. Update boot code to version 1.3.5.06  (I did this part with a tftp server. Just point the webui to the ip address and filename of your tftp server).

2. Reboot

3. Update to firmware "sx200_fw_1.3.7.18.ros"

4. Reboot

5. Do a factory reset on router.

6. Proceed to updating to the latest Version.

7. Celebrate by having a desired beverage.
