I'm in process of replacing my switches (3Com Switch 5500G-EI 24-Port ) with cisco sg500-28 switches
I configured the switch to be in standalone mode, put in a SFPmodule in port 25 and connect it with fiber to an 3Com 5500G-EI
i see the lights flashing and blinking an thought i was done, but when i plugged in a device it didn't obtain an ipaddress and after manually put in an ipaddress i could go no further than the switch itself
i tried the other ports as well (26, 27 and 28) but to no avail
what do i do wrong, is it even possible to connect this switch via fiber to a switch which is from another brand?

i hooked the cisco up to another switch (3Com 16491) and they can talk to each other, looks like indeed a config error on the 3Com 5500 port
again, hooked it up to 3Com5500, flashing leds but no communication, portsettings on 3Com5500 EI
